History of NFL Expansion and Realignment (Las Vegas Raiders Edition)

By: Mike Davis

With news that the Raiders are on the verge of moving to Las Vegas I decided to update my NFL expansion and realignment project to include this move, fix a typo, and slow down the gif. This project uses the same template as the college football conference realignment gif/pictures I made last year. Some important things to note:

-This project only covers the history of the 32 active NFL franchises. The NFL had a number of NFL franchises that folded prior to 1953 that are not included in this data.

-The data does not consider moves impacted by stadium renovations/construction. Events such as the Chicago Bears playing at the University of Illinois in 2002 or the Houston Oilers/Tennessee Titans playing in Memphis while waiting for completion of their new stadium in Nashville are not included.

-Any picture opens in a larger view when clicked on.

Interesting Mike. I wonder what NFL will look like it 10 years? Starbucks?
